2. Discounts for longer stays. Kitchens!
3. Saving money on meals.

5. Privacy.
6. No tipping!
Maine "Vacationland"
The State of Maine is the northernmost portion of New England and is the easternmost
state in the contiguous United States. It is known for its scenery, its jagged,
mostly rocky coastline; its low, rolling mountains; and its heavily forested
interior — as well as for its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams.
Maine is well known for its ocean scenery, with almost 3,500 miles (5,600
km) of shoreline. Along the famous rock-bound coast of Maine are lighthouses,
beaches, fishing villages, and thousands of offshore islands. Jagged rocks
and cliffs and thousands of bays and inlets add to the rugged beauty of Maine’s
coast. Just inland, by contrast, are lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains.
This visual contrast of forested slopes sweeping down to the sea has been
aptly summed up by American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay of Rockland and Camden,
Maine in “Renascence”: The rocky coast around Kennebunk River. “All I could
see from where I stood was three long mountains and a wood I turned and looked
the other way and saw three islands in a bay” Other Maine attractions include:
Maine’s Moosehead Lake which is the largest lake wholly in New England. Mount
Katahdin which is the northern point of the Appalachian Trail, which extends
to Springer Mountain, Georgia. Acadia National Park, near Bar Harbor is the
only national park in all of New England. With all of Maine’s scenic attractions
it is no wonder it has been nicknamed “vacationland”.
New Hampshire
ew Hampshire is part of the New England region. Its major regions are the
Great North Woods, the White Mountains, the Lakes Region, the Seacoast, the
Merrimack Valley, the Monadnock Region, and the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee area.
New Hampshire’s recreational attractions include skiing and other winter sports,
hiking and mountaineering, observing the fall foliage, summer cottages along
many lakes, motor sports at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and Motorcycle
Week, a popular motorcycle rally held in Laconia in June. The White Mountains
range in New Hampshire spans the north-central portion of the state, with
Mount Washington the tallest in the northeastern U.S., and other mountains
like Mount Madison and Mount Adams surrounding it. New Hampshire’s mountains
are a tourist attraction all on their own offering excellent skiing in the
winter months and picturesque hiking in the summer and fall. New Hampshire
was home to the rock formation called the Old Man of the Mountain, a face-like
profile in Franconia Notch, until the formation fell apart in May 2003. The
largest lake is Lake Winnipesaukee, which covers 71 square miles (184 km2)
in the east-central part of New Hampshire. Hampton Beach is a popular local
summer destination. About 10 miles (16 km) offshore are the Isles of Shoals,
nine small islands (four of which are in New Hampshire) known as the site
of a 19th century art colony founded by poet Celia Thaxter, as well as the
alleged location of one of the buried treasures of the pirate Blackbeard.
New Hampshire was home to the rock formation called the Old Man of the Mountain,
a face-like profile in Franconia Notch, until the formation fell apart in
May 2003. It is the only state with neither a general sales tax nor a personal
income tax at either the state or local level maing it a shoppers paradise.
What is a vacation rental by owner?
Vacation rental is a term in the travel industry meaning renting out a furnished
apartment or house on a temporary basis to tourists as an alternative to a
hotel. Vacation rentals have long been a popular travel option in Europe (especially
in the UK) as well as in Canada and are becoming increasingly popular throughout
the six (ME, NH,VT,MA,RI,CT) New England states. A vacation rental is a fully
furnished property, such as a condominium, townhome or chalet, cottage, cabin
or single-family-style home. The client/traveler arranges to rent the vacation
rental property for a designated period of time, many rent on nightly basis
similar to hotel rooms, although the more prevalent vacation rental industry
practice is typically weekly rentals.
