New leaf peeping app is way cool!

| Guide | September 19, 2011

VT foliage

The New England Autumn colors will soon be popping from maple to maple starting in the northern parts of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. It’s always a bit of a guessing game of when you should take that leaf peeping drive and enjoy all of the fall colors. Like many things, technology is trying to make it easier for you. Yankee magazine has a foliage app for you.

Yankee Magazine’s new Leaf Peepr app, which is free and downloadable for iPhone and Droid phones, lets leaf peepers check color status by region or zip code, and also offers interactive elements like the ability to upload new reports and photos to YankeeFoliage.com’s fall foliage map.  There are driving tours for each of the New England states — Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont — as well as recommended routes for certain regions such as Moosehead Lake in Maine and Route 100 in Vermont.
